Admiral Arthur Phillip RN Commemoration Service and Luncheon

Sir Michael Savory, Chairman of the Admiral Phillip Memorial Trust invites you to the annual Admiral Phillip Memorial Service will be held at 11.30am on Monday 18th January 2016 at St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside, City of London.

Service commences at 11:30am at St Mary-le-Bow, Cheapside, City of London followed by Lunch at Grocers’ Hall ending at 2:45pm.

Arthur Phillip was the Commander of the First Fleet that sailed in 1787 to found the colony of New South Wales which became the new nation of Australia.

Every year a Commemoration Service is held to celebrate his achievements. The Address will be given this year by Jonathan Betts MBE formerly Senior Specialist in horology the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. Jonathan, a horological scholar and author, is an expert on the first marine timekeepers including the chronometer used by Phillip to navigate the First Fleet to Australia

The service is conducted by the Rev George Bush and is attended by senior representatives of the Australian diplomatic community and members of the City of London Corporation.

The event is open to members and non members of the Society.

There is no charge for attending the service, however, attending the service and lunch the cost is £75 and must be booked on this form by 11 January 2016.
