    ANZAC Day

    25th April 2018
    5:00am to 4:00pm

London turns out in force for the annual ANZAC Day commemorations. It is a long day with several services and all are attended by officers and Vice-Presidents of the Britain-Australia Society. Our members have been informed by email as to how to obtain tickets to the Whitehall parade and the Westminster Abbey service.

    Timings are as follows:

    5.00am: Dawn Service
Location: New Zealand Memorial, Hyde Park Corner

The main service will take place at the New Zealand Memorial on Hyde Park Corner.  The service will be approximately 45 minutes in length and is open to the public.  After the main service there will be wreath-laying at the Australia Memorial at the Southwest of Hyde Park Corner.

There is no reservation required but arrival from 4.00am is suggested.

    9:00am: Gallipoli Memorial wreath-laying

    Location: St Paul’s Cathedral Crypt

This is organised by the Gallipoli Association and is open to the public. The short ceremony is attended by representatives of the Australian, British, New Zealand and Turkish governments. Arrive by 8:45am.

11.00am: Wreath Laying Ceremony and Parade

    Location: The Cenotaph, Whitehall

Following a march onto Whitehall, a requiem is read and at 11.00am the High Commissioners for New Zealand and Australia will lay the first wreaths.  Wreaths are then laid by representatives of the UK government, High Commissioners and Ambassadors, as well as representatives from various service and ex-service organisations.

Arrival by 10.30am is recommended.  The service will conclude at approximately 11.15am, allowing time for the short walk to Westminster Abbey if you have reserved a seat there.

12.00pm: Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving

    Location: Westminster Abbey

The Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving to mark ANZAC Day commences at 12.00 noon.  Guests must be seated by 11.45am and the service will last approximately one hour.

Tickets are limited and are allocated by the High Commissions but please note that applications have now closed.
