On 16 May 2013, the Britain Australia Society lifts the lid on a fascinating, yet generally unknown, aspect of Australian colonization – the role of London’s Reform Club in South Australia’s settlement.

The Britain Australia Society is honored to welcome special guest, the Hon John Bannon AO, South Australia’s 39th Premier and renowned historian, who will share some fascinating tales of reformist zeal. Mr Bannon will be joined by Reform Club member, Dr Jeff Nicholas, who, over the past decade, has researched meticulously the biographies of around 60 early members of the Reform Club, all of whom were involved in the pioneering project that was South Australia’s settlement.

The evening includes tea and coffee at the Army & Navy Club from 5.00pm followed by the talk at 5:30pm, after which guests will be invited to walk across Pall Mall for a drinks reception at the Reform Club commencing at 6.30pm.

This is an occasion not to be missed, and a story best told over a glass of fine South Australia wine.

Please join us for this wonderful event.

NB The Club has a strict dress code: Gentlemen are required to wear closed collar, jacket and tie.  Ladies are required to dress with similar formality.
