    Western Crossings Commemoration at RGS 2.30pm – 4pm Tickets £5 to non RGS members

    A number of events will be taking place in NSW in April to commemorate the 1813 crossings of the Blue Mountains, which led to the opening of the Bathurst plains.

    A parallel UK presentation is being organised by Richard Cox, a member of the Royal Australian Historical Society and descendant of William Cox, who built the first Blue Mountains road in 1814.

    The emphasis will be on the crossings made by Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and W. C. Wentworth in 1813,  followed up by George Evans, the deputy surveyor of the colony.

    A limited number of tickets for non-RGS members will cost £5 and can be obtained through Alistair Macleod at the RGS:
