Heston Blumenthal: five Australian food trends the UK should adopt

Heston Blumenthal likes the way we do food in Australia and thinks the UK has a thing or two they could learn…

My own take on this:

  • you cannot expect to use a penguin like a tim-tam. Really!
  • Australians have become huge coffee snobs – the downside being that they can’t find a “decent” coffee outside the country… but on the upside, coffee in Australia is generally superb!
  • Australia does indeed have the best beef. My American friend who, in common with the majority of her compatriots, believes that everything is better in the USA, admits to Aussie beef being superior (I import it for my annual BBQ in London and she’s been to Australia).
  • Street food – well, I love SE Asia and particularly the food culture and am happy that Australia has adopted this. Come on London!
