    Push Ups for Fred

    UPDATE: a message from Bill…

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to those from the B-AS who donated to my Push Ups for Fred Push Up challenge. I completed my 15000 and last push up on Sunday and so far have raised just under $11000 so thank to all for your support.

Between Governor General, Former PM Tony Abbott, Electoral Commissioner, Acting Chief of Army and friends and colleagues I felt we got the message out there. I had over 10000 likes to all the little videos we made. Converting them to $ was much harder but we still got good money. The advice from Fred Hollows Foundation is that this is what this much money will do

thanks again for the great support and best wishes to you all

    cheers

    Bill

Fred Hollows was an Aussie legend – a humanitarian who saw how a small operation could impact a life hugely and didn’t let red tape get in his way. This led to an enormous programme of restoring eyesight in indigenous and impoverished societies.

Brigadier Bill Sowry was formerly the head of the Defence Contingent at Australia House. He has set himself a personal challenge to raise money and awareness for the Fred Hollows charity. Bill will travel the length of the Tour de France (a 23-day effort), doing push-ups every kilometre.

Please give Bill your support by contributing and spreading the word about his appeal.

Hmm, you know – if Bill let his sideburns go feral and ignored his eyebrows for a while he could do a passing resemblance to Fred.

Keep your eyes peeled for the feature film, Bill!
