Great press coverage of the Britain-Australia Society Award

    Published 11th April

The Society hosted a delightful reception to announce the 2016 Britain-Australia Society Award recipient as Kylie Minogue.

A small-ish contingent of 120 members and representatives of the Foreign office, Royal Household and our Corporate supporters were welcomed to Australia House by the Australian High Commissioner, The Hon Alexander Downer AC.

Speeches were made by Mr Downer and our Chairman Peter Benson OAM and a letter from Society President Lord Carrington was read out.

Kylie herself made a delightfully humble speech of thanks and told us that she really enjoyed the evening.

The next day our Patron, HRH Prince Philip, welcomed Kylie, the High Commissioner and our Chairman at Windsor Castle where The Duke of Edinburgh officially presented the award. You will no doubt have seen images from this in the press in the UK and Australia as well as Kylie’s video in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
