There is a practically unknown but fascinating story of an Aboriginal Elder who fought for Indigenous representation in the Australian Parliament and who, around the start of WW2, led a delegation to the German Consul in Melbourne to condemn the treatment of Jews in Germany after hearing of Kristallnacht.

Earlier this year Cooper’s grandson, Uncle (Alf) Boydie, visited London, Berlin and Beersheba to close the loop on the petitions Cooper created, including presenting a copy of the original petition about Kristallnacht to Chancellor Merkel.

This concert takes the anniversary of Kristallnacht as an opportunity to celebrate and promote the story of William Cooper that deserves to be much more widely known.
